Why are you a Protestant? Do you know why you are protesting against the Church?
If you do not want to become Catholic, like I did, let me advise you…
NEVER, look into the history of Christianity. Do not EVER learn more about the Reformation. If you do, you’ll find that the Catholic Church had a Counter Reformation, and there is no longer any reason to protest against it.
Protestant theologian, Stanley Hauerwas, explains it so well:
“Protestantism is a reformed movement. When it becomes an end in itself it becomes unintelligible to itself. Protestants who don’t long for Christian unity are not Protestant. There is also the ongoing problem that Catholics have responded to the Protestant critique in a way that the Protestant critique no longer makes much sense. Accordingly, the question is: why do we continue to be kept apart?”
When I really looked into the reasons why the Reformation took place, and studied the heart of the Reformation, my reasons for staying Protestant, vanished.
