Abbey Poppins

One week after my summer job ended at Hubrich Dental, I was hired as a part time nanny. This family lives 3 miles from our house and they have two grade-school boys. I work from 1-6pm every week day and absolutely love my new job.

Every Monday I make a meal schedule for the week, make a grocery list, and then go shopping. I make dinner for them every day and do a few light house work chores.

Mid afternoon I pick up the boys from school, making sure I bring a snack for them as they are always hungry right after school. I take them to after school activities, help them with their piano practice, and give them dinner. I really enjoy playing with them in their fun playroom and reading to them from the chapter book we’re working through.

The boys love Ants on a Log so this is what I usually bring for their after school snack along with a Larabar or some other granola bar.

The boys’ piano teacher lives right across the street from them. I made each of them a book bag to put their piano books in when we walk to their lessons.

Being a nanny is kind of like babysitting, only you get to know the family and the kids really well as you’re spending so much time with them. I’ve been a nanny for 4 weeks now, and I love it!

When I told the doctors and assistants at Hubrich Dental about my new job, Dr. Niloofar named me Abbey Poppins.
