Recent projects of mine

Lydia and I made a strip quilt for Nana and Papa Norton before we went to England. We brought it to them as a thank you gift for letting us stay at their house for three weeks.

Lydia and I enjoyed sewing the top together and also quilting it once it was pieced together with the back and batting. We love you Nana and Papa! We will never forget the wonderful time we had with you last June. Thank you again so much for all you did for us and with us. ________________________________________________________________ I made a princess dress, or renaissance dress, for my little friend Eden that I babysit. She turned 3 years old last month.

My sister Molly comes with me sometimes when I babysit. She loves playing with Eden. I let Molly model the dress for me before I gave it to our little friend.

________________________________________________________________ Eden’s brother turned 5 this month. I made him a cape and helmet.

The shield and sword Logan already had goes perfectly with it. Allow me to introduce you to Sir Logan.

I knitted this blanket for a friend who just had a baby last month. It’s a small blanket, about 2 1/2 feet square.

I have never knitted a project like this before and I was fascinated with how the lambs were knit into the green blanket. Each lamb was worked with a separate “spool” of yarn held to the back of the blanket. In this picture I’m working the third row of lambs.

The yarn I used for the sheep was so fluffy that the stitches were almost indefinable. The black heads and feet I added after the blanket was completed using a simple satin stitch.

This past week my Mom visited this long distant friend of ours to see the new baby. He is so precious. I can’t wait to meet him.

I am blown away by your beautiful sewing and knitting, and I think how fortunate those kids are to have babysitters like you!

Oh my goodness Abbey I just love ALL your projects! Love the pictures of Eden and Logan and our little Judah looks SO precious with his little lamby blanket! You are certainly a blessing to many people out there who get to enjoy your handy work, and I know first hand. Love you my Abbey,

I love all of your projects, you’ve done such a great job on all of them!

I just met that sweet baby tonight, he is just too cute!

Well what can I say Abbey and Lydia, we absolutely loved having you stay with us. We did have some fun didn’t we!! I still have a fat ankle, but it isn’t painful any more thank goodness. The quilt you both made for us was fabulous, I show it to everyone who comes to our home and, as you know, the colours just went so well with our second bedroom that it has a permanent home across the end of the bed. I do go and get it though for a cuddle when watching the television occasionally. You know you are welcome anytime to stay with us. We would love to show you other parts of the UK instead of just London!!

Hello Nana, I am sorry your ankle is still swollen. I hope it doesn’t hurt you much. I’d love to come and visit you again and see other parts of the UK. You and Papa have a wonderful gift of hospitality. God bless you!

I love all of these. I am particularly taken with the helmet & the sheep blanket. I didn’t get to see that one finished in person, but it turned out so cute!

  7. Grace Norton says:

Wow abbey good job that sounds like it was a lot of fun to make all of those. I try to do sewing and crochete, like I have made a lot of wash cloths and Aunt Nancy just helped me make a tea cosy using an embroidery that I did. It was really fun.

  8. Nana Norton says:

Wow.. I don’t do much now, but I have done a lot of embroidery in my time. Also I have found a beautiful (half table cloth) which my mother has done – must have been before my time as I have never saw her making it!! I will try and take a photo of it and email you a copy. Well done Grace – I too would love to see your tea cosy… I need to buy you a tea pot to put under it!! XX

Your sheep blanket is gorgeous! I love how the white of the sheep is so fluffy. It is far and away my favorite thing I have seen you make!

    • Abbey says:

Aww, thank you, that’s so sweet of you to say it’s your favorite thing I’ve made! I was impressed with how quick and simple it was to make.

I know!! the sheep were so fluffy and soft. I would get distracted and just sit there and feel the sheepys over and over 😛
