Class of 2017

I did it! I’m done with school… well, done with being on the student end of school πŸ™‚

I graduated from the University of Arizona with a BS in Science Education: Chemistry Emphasis, and a minor in biochemistry. I won Outstanding Senior for my department in the college of science. My boyfriend and my parents came to that awards ceremony:

I love this man with my whole heart. I’m so proud of him. He graduated also, and is now a licensed EMT. The handsomest one, in my opinion πŸ™‚

I love my parents! They’ve been so supportive of me through my journey at the U of A. I’m so thankful for them.

Jacob has been very sweet, gentle, and supportive of me the past few years, holding my hand when it got rough, and letting me cry on his shoulder whenever I needed to… which ended up being a lot this semester. I had so much going on, I felt very overwhelmed. I was in full time student teaching 7th & 8th grade science which included lesson planning, grading, assigning homework, parent/teacher/student conferences, and professional development meetings, plus I had a load of education and science classes on top of that. When I look back, the past few months are a blur. Tassel worth the hassle? YEP!

University of Arizona’s College of Science commencement ceremony 2017: Yes, I’m somewhere down there with the graduates πŸ™‚

Here’s three of the other Science Education graduates, we’ve had a lot of fun together the past 2 years:

Jacob’s brother and sister also graduated from the college of science. Samantha was in the Science Education program with me, and we enjoyed going through student teaching together this semester:

Next steps:

This week and next I’m taking my teacher certification examinations and finishing up student teaching (we have to continue until the school district is out).

I already have a job lined up for next fall. I’m teaching honors chemistry at a private school in town. I’m so excited about this opportunity, I’m looking forward to lesson planning over the summer!

I really enjoyed being a student, I can honestly say I’m going to miss it. But I have to say I had a difficult time being a student AND a teacher this semester. I’m definitely looking forward to being “just a teacher” next year.

Enjoy your summer! I know I will πŸ™‚
