My Talented Sister

What do you do when you need a formal dress in less than 48 hours? And when shopping is not your idea of fun, especially under pressure of time? Well, if you’re me, you ask your sister to make your dress. So, I did. And my sister did not just make “a formal dress,” but the perfect dress.

Made of black satin crepe with a white satin sash this dress made me feel like princess.

Here is what the back looks like.

We found the perfect shoes at Famous Footwear that were made of the same fabric as the dress. Sorry for the bad picture, I never took one of my shoes, so this is really zoomed in.

Last week I went to Dancing with Our Stars at the Westin La Paloma. Supporting the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona, the mom of the two boys I nanny danced in the competition. I escorted her boys to the event, then after the dinner and their mom’s dance, we went to their hotel room and played until the end of the evening.

100_3351xThe boys loved the adoring comments they received and enjoyed pretending they were my body guards. They especially look the part in this picture.

100_3349xThe dinner was absolutely wonderful. I only managed to get a picture of the salad and dessert.

Here is a family picture. Their graceful mother won the dancing competition as well as the audience choice award.

The whole evening was wonderful, with a special thanks to my talented sister. Go to her website or her Etsy site to contact her about her sewing for hire.

Love, love, love your dress. I am going to order a skirt from your sister. It would be great to dance in. When I get home, I want to invite you to one of my contra dance Vikings. I think you might like it!
