Happy Mother’s Day

This year R & R cafe was open on Mother’s Day and my Mom and Dad, and Grandma and Grandpa Roome had reservations at 4pm.

100_3409xThe table was set with water glasses, salads, and cheese toast appetizers when our customers arrived. I forgot to take a picture of the gourmet salads which Lydia beautifully designed, but here is the dinner. Steak marinated in raspberry vinaigrette dressing, steamed broccoli with butter, and sauteed brown rice.

100_3412xThis dessert was of our own concoction: homemade custard, with whipped cream topped with coconut sprinkles, and three “cat cookies” from Trader Joe’s served in Grandma’s new mini tasting party dishes. Coffee and Tea was served to our customers with the dessert.

100_3416xOur younger siblings enjoyed waiting on our customers as usual and were sometimes a bit too eager to serve that they ran the risk of spoiling the peaceful atmosphere. Lydia was head cook; I was her sou chef as well as manager of the junior waiters and waitresses; Zack (18) was cook for the crew; Jake (16) official babysitter of Hope (3); Steven (11) first waiter; Emily (13) and Molly (5) assistant waitresses. With everyone doing a job, hopefully we managed to give our Mother and Mother’s Mother a blessed day.

Happy Mother’s Day to my wonderful Mom. I am so blessed to have her as my Mommy.
